Edinburgh Castle

Today we enjoyed all the wonderful things the Edinburgh castle has to enjoy. It's really a beautiful place on top of an old volcano. The crown jewels of Scotland are there as well as the Stone Of Destiny. I recommend the audio tour here as you can enjoy the most important parts of the history without having to read little signs with many other people around. The history of Scotland is represented well through a few small museums on sight. It's amazing so many battles, some won some lost all by men in sexy skirts. I wonder what it is that makes these people the friendliest people? Maybe it's because a man can still be manly while wearing a colourful skirt? Maybe it's because the crisp cool air? Maybe it's the beer?

Edinburgh

Arrival is. After a nice delayed flight we made it safe and sound. This is a beautiful city and it's full of friendly people. The apartment is so beautiful I never want to leave. Well should I say the half a house. So far just walked around a little. I'm excited to see what the castle and museums are going to be like.

Day 3

Well everything I have here now smells like cigs or pot. So not my thing. I can't wait to wash everything in my bag. I thought I should maybe start smoking again since I had no choice and am surrounded by it. Went exploring a little ways from the down town crazy today. It's really nice once you get into the new and less busy areas. Took in the Amsterdam museum as well. It's great. They have amazing videos and informational thingys to teach the fantastic history of this very important city.

Day 2

Today we enjoyed the Rembrandt museum and the torture museum. Very dissimilar. The Rembrandt museum was wonderful. They had people showing different methods and ways he created his art. It all takes place in his old house so that is kinda cool. After all the education some lunch and some crappy beer. Enjoyed a tour around the royal res as well today and after went for a walk through the red light district. It's more sad then anything. These girls all showing themselves in the windows. They should do something else. Seeing the people using the services however is funny. Everything from young kids being egged on by friends to nasty men who have to pay for a lay. What fun.

Amsterdam

Hello Amsterdam nice to be inside you. Very nice city. Easy to get around and loads to see. Today we went to the house where Anne Frank and Family were hidden from the Nazi. Good to get the heavy stuff out of the way before the fun. Great museum and really a heartbreaking story. As one does after a museum like that beer was enjoyed. Tonight a snack and maybe another drink. Below are a few shots of the area. No pictures from the museum as they are forbidden.

Day 5

Well another great day in Brussels. The temperature was good the people friendly and the chocolate chocolate like. Stopped at Godiva and enjoyed some treats. The server was from Ottawa so that was fun. We got a free chocolate. Went to the museum of old things. Looked at some old stuff from all over the world of old. Amazing but am finding that I'm getting a little less excited about it. Old overload I think. Enjoyed dinner and drinks with a friend and now am back home ready for tomorrow.

Day 4

Today was a tour of a few churches in the city. Brussels has many beautiful old cathedrals and churches dating from the time of the dinosaurs. After a nice look around went and looked at some shops and looked around the small city streets.

Day 3

Spent the day today walking around the centre of the city. Looked in at the big open square and a few adorable churches. I'll go back to them on another day that is not Sunday. Below are a few pictures of the square and another of a building on my street.

Day 2

Today was wonderful. I spent it out and about. Looked at a beautiful cathedral and then had dinner at home. My evening was spent at a couple different bars listening to rock and roll and drinking beer with a lady I met yesterday at check in. We had a blast. I'm so happy my day alone ended up being so much fun and not so alone. Best start to Brussels I would say.
